Key Responsibilities For Senior HSE Engineer
- Lead the formulation of HSE policies and ensure they align with the company’s goals. Set measurable HSE targets and ensure all team members adhere to them.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including environmental regulations, ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company) codes, and international safety standards. Handle agency requests from environmental regulators and keep the company up-to-date with legal changes.
- Supervise all phases of project execution, from assessment and design to FEED (Front End Engineering Design). Perform loss prevention studies to identify and mitigate potential risks. Ensure safety protocols are followed during the project design and execution phases.
- Monitor and manage HSE aspects during the construction phase of projects. Make sure all construction activities comply with ADNOC’s HSE guidelines.
- Conduct HSE workshops to train employees and subcontractors on safety standards. Provide guidance and leadership to ensure a safety-first culture within the team.
Required Qualifications For Safety Engineer
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Health, Safety, or Environmental Sciences. This educational foundation ensures that you have the technical knowledge needed to understand and implement complex safety protocols in the oil and gas sector.
Experience:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in HSE management, including at least 8 years in a supervisory role within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven expertise in process design, FEED, detailed engineering, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) phases.
Certifications:
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)
- OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems)
- IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
These certifications are crucial for anyone in an HSE leadership position, as they signify your knowledge of global health and safety standards.
Skills:
- Experience in conducting HSEIA (Health, Safety, and Environmental Impact Assessments).
- Ability to manage workshops, engage teams, and effectively communicate complex safety information.
