Procurement Engineer

Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for engineering projects, including sourcing equipment, materials, and services necessary for project execution. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure timely procurement of quality goods and services while adhering to project specifications and budget constraints. Your role will involve evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating contracts, and coordinating logistics to support project timelines and objectives.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements, specifications, and timelines for procurement activities.
– Source and qualify suppliers for equipment, materials, and services required for engineering projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
– Conduct supplier evaluations, including assessment of capabilities, quality management systems, and performance history, to select reliable and competent vendors.
– Review technical specifications, drawings, and other project documentation to identify procurement needs and ensure alignment with project requirements.
– Prepare requests for quotations (RFQs), requests for proposals (RFPs), and invitations to bid (ITBs) for procurement of goods and services, ensuring clarity and completeness of requirements.
– Evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions, and finalize contracts to secure favourable terms and maximize value for the organization.
– Coordinate with suppliers to track order status, expedite deliveries, and resolve issues related to quality, quantity, or timeliness of deliveries.
– Manage supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and contract management throughout the project lifecycle.
– Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including ethical and legal standards.
– Maintain accurate procurement records, documentation, and reports to track procurement activities, expenditures, and supplier performance metrics.

Skills and Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical), or a related field. Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management are advantageous.
– Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or engineering project management, preferably in an engineering or construction environment.
– Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, materials specifications, and project requirements.
– Proficiency in procurement processes, including sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
– Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
– Analytical mind-set with the ability to analyse technical specifications, evaluate supplier capabilities, and make data-driven procurement decisions.
– Proficiency in using procurement software and tools for sourcing, contract management, and supplier performance tracking.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities simultaneously and meet project deadlines.
– Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to procurement, engineering, and construction projects.
– Commitment to integrity, ethical conduct, and professionalism in all procurement activities and interactions.
